Made for a room, not a shelf
Every round works the first time someone opens the book. No rules to study, no pieces to lose, nothing to charge. The book is the game.
Party games · Puzzles · Mysteries
Hand one to a room full of people and something happens. That's the whole brief. We publish games, puzzles and mysteries that need no app, no batteries and no setup — just a page and someone willing to go first.
What we're for
Most books ask you to sit still and receive. Ours ask you to guess, argue, bluff, solve, or read a line out loud before you've finished it. Entertainment is the job — everything else is a means to it.
Every round works the first time someone opens the book. No rules to study, no pieces to lose, nothing to charge. The book is the game.
We'd rather set you a puzzle that takes a moment to crack than hand you a page you skim. Difficulty is a gift when it's fair.
The best thing a book can do is leave you with a line you pass on. We write for the retelling, not for the review quote.
Our latest book
Your party, zero phones, one book. 117 rounds across seven kinds of battle — charades, bluffs, debates, letter storms. Open a page and the room is playing in ten seconds.
Paperback · 128 pages · $12.99
What's hatching
One book is a start, not a catalogue. Three lines are in production — the party shelf keeps growing, and two new kinds of book join it.
Further volumes in the Party Battle line, plus shorter formats built for smaller rooms and for the ten minutes before dinner is ready.
Cases you solve yourself: five clues, a cast of suspects, and a solution you can reach before the book tells you. Pause on any page and make your accusation.
Word grids, riddles and logic problems, built to be fair. Designed for one person and a quiet half hour rather than a full room.
Want to know when one lands? The list below is the only place we announce them.

About
Hoot Hatch is a small independent publisher working on one side of the house: books meant to entertain. They're written, designed and typeset in-house, then printed and sold through Amazon.
Individual titles carry their own imprints, Tamada Press among them. Hoot Hatch is where they all end up, because the shelf a book belongs on has less to do with the logo on the spine than with what happens when you open it in a room full of people.
